CELEBRATING SYNCHRONICITY

Today I am celebrating synchronicity, which never ceases to dumbfound me.

Yesterday morning I received a call from a dear friend whom I haven't seen in ages. She said,

I can celebrate the fact that I reached out to say hello to you today.

As I listened on I really appreciated her ability to find something to celebrate, as she reported a horrible example of bad things happening to good people that she and her husband were currently experiencing. She was calling to ask for some help, which I was happily able to give, AND synchronistically AVAILABLE to give.

You see, I should have been out at a class, but my car battery had died and I was stuck at home till late in the afternoon! So they came over, jumpstarted my car, we visited and had some laughs, and everyone got just what they needed.

Synchronicities really are amazing when you think about it. If someone had asked me to make a list of 50 people I could call to help me with the battery she wouldn't even have been on the list, I hadn't seen her in so long. And yet she was the one because right at that moment I had something to give her, too. Ain't life grand?

The Pulse of Life

Already, in a few short weeks, there's quite a range and variety of celebrations showing up in my voicemail.

One of my favorites was from someone at the local gas company. Don't you just love that? She was calling to leave me some information and she just jumped right in, no hesitation, and said,

"I'm celebrating that I woke up with a pulse this morning."

I cracked up and, of course, had to call her right back and celebrate with her. I think she was a little surprised but this is what I mean. A mundane call delivering information to a customer turned into this wonderful, humorous connection between two human beings (who happened, by the way, to both be named Lisa).

Two nights ago I came home from a dance class, all sweaty and feeling great. It was dark out (boo hoo - only 8:20) and as I stepped out of the car I heard the distinct quack of a flock of Canadian geese flying over head. I looked up and, even though it was dark and cloudy, I could clearly see the outline of a huge V of geese, flying in formation. My home is one of the few places I know which direction I'm facing and they were going North-Northwest, which I found a little odd. But I had no doubt they had a clear plan and knew exactly what they were doing.

I was just awestruck. Here it was, dark and cloudy, and this huge group of magnificent birds were  accomplishing this truly amazing feat, as they did last year and will probably do next year. How many of us can say we know exactly where we're going, how we're going to get there and when the best time to leave is? I'm flying to California next week and I don't even know where I'm staying yet.

What is this pulse of life that directs the geese? Why do they even exist? They are one of the many answers I commonly precede with the question: How can you NOT believe in God? (a Creator, something bigger than us, however you want to call it) Bluebirds beg that question, and Jack-in-the-Pulpits.

Just looking around ourselves, with these questions in mind, the whole of life is mind-boggling, miraculous. And there is this pulse, running through all of it, through all of us. We are miracles. When Lisa said she was celebrating waking up with a pulse that morning, she hit on the biggest celebration of all .

Today I'm celebrating the pulse of life that freely allows all things to be.

What's this blog all about?

This is so typical of me - already, on my second day of blogging, I'm over-organizing, wondering how people who find me later on will know how this blog came about. Maybe I should direct this energy toward the state of my desk.

You Just Never Know...........

I changed my voice mail message a month ago. It was about time - I've been on my own for a year and a half now. I'm not sure I'm entirely satisfied with it yet. I like even the smaller details in my life to be as beautiful or perfect as they can. I mean if you have to buy stamps, why not buy the most beautiful, the most colorful or the ones with the best message? If you pay attention, you can create small moments of happiness everywhere and, God knows, we can all use more happiness in our daily lives.

So I'm not sure my message is a total reflection of me but I did add this one thing that, as it turns out, has created something BIG. It starts out as the usual message, ".....please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can." But then I added this one line at the end:

In the meantime, what's one small thing you can celebrate about today?

I did that because I wanted to cause people to pause, to interrupt that automatic-ness, that unconsciousness that we tend to move into at some point during the day. And I wanted them to take a moment to focus on something that might be going right. I believe we are powerful creators and we are creating all the time, whether we are aware of it or not. Whatever we are focused on is what we are giving energy to and, therefore, attracting more of. I wanted my callers to focus on something good, even for a moment, so they could create more of that or, at the very least, shift their focus off of whatever was not going right, so they wouldn't get more of that.

I love the unexpected! What I didn't anticipate was that they would share with me what they were celebrating! I'd say at least 80% of my callers (more strangers than family and friends, interestingly enough) have been reporting their celebrations since I changed my message. Just imagine that for a moment. Every time you get a message, someone is sharing with you something good that happened for them that day. It totally lifts my spirits and feels like a huge gift! Here's an example, from someone I just met recently:

Hi Lisa, it's about 9:30 on Monday night and yes, I celebrated today the superb sunlight streaming through the windows here for about 4 hours in the afternoon over my beautiful plants and the shiny wooden floors in the studio as I danced and ..... to be surrounded by this exquisite autumn feeling.

How beautiful is that?!? How can I not share this deliciousness that I have inadvertently brought into my life? So, I have an invitation for you, any or all 4 parts:
